ASIMO robot was in Belgrade. The most advanced humanoid robot opened the popular science manifestation “Days of the Future: Robotics” on September 24th. The manifestation was organized by the Center for the Promotion of Science and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Belgrade and was held from September 24th until October 15th. ASIMO show was seen at the “Ilija M. Kolarac” Endowment on September 25th and 26th, and was THE event of the manifestation and its original program. The shows were held in an almost euphoric atmosphere. The Main hall at Kolarac was packed with people, and the excited audience – mainly kids – chanted its name for a long time after each of the 12 performances. Its arrival to Belgrade attracted great media attention in Serbia. ASIMO robot had its performance at the studio of the National TV station, but reports of his performances were broadcasted across the country. Belgrade’s press announced its show on the cover pages and all the media was full of texts and reports regarding robotics.

Tickets for the afternoon performances of ASIMO robot where sold out the first day of its show. The price per ticket was 200 dinars, while schools, educational; science and other institutes could buy the tickets for groups for the price of 100 dinars per ticket. The company Honda constructed ASIMO in 2000, although its development lasted for almost a decade and a half. Belgrade’s Robotics School and the Academic Miomir Vukobratic, the creator of the Zero Moment Point Theory, gave a contribution to its development. This theory was used for the balance and walking of ASIMO. The show was held in many countries around the world, but this was its first visit to the Western Balkans.
