On August 17, CPN visited Raška, marking the event ”Raške duhovne svečanosti”[:]
Third year in a row, CPN attended the event ”Raške duhovne svečanosti”.
The event’s versatile scientific and cultural program, which lasts from August 15 to 19, was accompanied by series of CPN’s workshops for children. The interactive program was scheduled for August 17, from 11am to 3pm, at the City Square.
The youngest visitors had the opportunity to participate in various activities: solving the mathematical puzzles, making geometrical bodies from plastic straws, learning about pressure by making soap bubbles, and many more, including creating ”electrobugs” and also raising awareness about the environment by playing ECOgames.
In the afternoon, the city’s Cultural Center hosted the CPN’s panel: ”HAARP and Other Scientific Misconceptions”.
The panel started at 6pm, and the participants discussed the possibility of HAARP affecting our climate changes, as well as some other wide spread scientific misconceptions. Among the participants were eminent Serbian scientists and science popularizers: Vojislav Voja Antonić, a fighter against modern superstition, Dr. Oliver Tošković, Psychologist, and Branimir Acković, Physicist. The moderator was Tijana Marković.
In an interesting and humorous manner, the participants demonstrated the reasons behind the huge popularity of conspiracy theories and superstitions among people, even today, in the 21st century, when science and society have come so far.
