CPN initiated a new series of workshops in the field of programming, hence marking the International Girls in ICT Day[:]
In cooperation with the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Policy and Gender Equality Directorate, CPN organized a workshop titled ” Programming is easy”, on Thursday, April 24.
This was the first CPN workshop, in the series named “The First Step Towards Successful and Balanced ICT Career”.
The participants of these successful workshops were girls, attending 7th or 8th grade of elementary school. They showed enthusiasm, interest and great skills, while learning how to program, thanks to the Scratch Program.
The goal of these workshops is to get girls interested into pursuing education and career in the areas of technology and IT. Also, the idea was to get them interested in modern technology and show them that programming can be stimulating, fun and easily learned.
The girls had the opportunity to see a short demonstration by female students, who explained their motives for choosing a career in IT, and gave them a perspective on what it’s like to work in this field and in an IT company.
The girls also watched a short movie, where some of the most eminent experts and well-known businessmen from the world of IT, such as Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, and Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, spoke about programming.
The same day, Media Center hosted a press conference, as a part of the program of ”International Girls In ICT Day”, where they presented a research titled ” The Role of Knowledge in the Area of ICT and the Status of Women in the Labor Market”.
